What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We process data to effectively verify scholarly credentials, manage article submissions, run the peer-review process, and maintain data security. This information is processed under the legal grounds of legitimate interest, academic necessity, and explicit consent given during user onboarding.

When visitors leave comments or feedback on scholarly articles published on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images or dataset graphs to the website (such as figures within manuscripts or author profile bio cards), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms & Manuscript Submissions
When authors, reviewers, or editors interact with our editorial submission systems or custom contact forms, we capture the data submitted (including legal names, email addresses, institutional affiliations, ORCID iDs, and research disciplines). This operational data is retained permanently to maintain academic record transparency and the history of published volumes. It is never deployed for external commercial marketing purposes.
